Meet Joy Stoney
THE ATTORNEY WHO CARES
As a Charleston, SC native, I always enjoyed the coast and knew I wanted to give back to my community in some way. I went to law school because I wanted to help people with real problems that the law could help remedy. As a Converse College graduate, I received a BA as a double major in Political Science and History where I earned Dean’s List and Pi Gammu Mu academic scholar awards. While attending the University of South Carolina School of Law, I tutored my peers in Contracts I and II and served as Vice-President of Women In Law. I then practiced with a litigation firm in Columbia, SC helping individuals with their legal needs. I worked extensively with claims associated with personal injury, disability, and workers' compensation claims.
In August 2006, I moved back to my hometown and opened the Stoney Law Firm, LLC. As the managing attorney of the firm, I work with individuals in several areas, including criminal defense, personal injury, workers’ compensation and disability claims. We also have an estate planning division which provides an additional sense of satisfaction helping people plan for their legal and financial future.
It's important to give back. I am a member of a number of legal organizations and continue to serve in a volunteer capacity to several non-profit organizations. I enjoy regular speaking engagements, especially those which introduce children to the law. I have a passion for representing people who find themselves in difficult situations and need assistance in navigating through the legal system.
